Web design
Redesign the site you already have
A redesign is not about making things prettier. It is about working out why the site you already have is not producing the enquiries it should — fixing that — and only spending money where it will actually move something. Some of the time the honest answer is that you do not need a redesign at all.

Diagnose before anyone draws anything
Plenty of sites get rebuilt without anyone establishing what was wrong, and the same problem quietly returns a year later. We start with a free audit covering speed on a real phone connection, whether Google can find and index the pages, whether the booking or contact route works, and whether the site is actually asking anyone for anything. The findings come first. The design comes after.
Moving without losing the map results
Your Google Business Profile and your search visibility are attached to your domain, not to your theme. We keep the same domain, keep the same URLs wherever it makes sense, and put proper redirects in place for anything that moves. The most common cause of a post-redesign collapse is administrative, not design-related, and it costs nothing to avoid.
What usually deserves throwing away
Stock photography, menu PDFs from 2019, opening hours that stopped being true, the page nobody has looked at since launch, plugins added one at a time by three different people, and any layout that only works on the laptop it was built on. Accumulated cruft is the usual reason a cheap site has become an expensive one, because every future change now costs someone an afternoon.
What usually deserves keeping
Your domain, your photographs, your text where it is doing the job, and — importantly — the reviews and history attached to your Google profile. All of that is an asset you have built up over years. A redesign that throws away working copy and starts from a blank page is a slower, more expensive version of the site you already had.
The quiet season is the right time
Between November and February there are fewer enquiries at risk while the site is being changed, and we have more room to give the project attention. Launching a redesign in the middle of July, when a booking form quietly fails for three days, costs far more than the speed we would have to work at.
Pages that can be switched on and off
Once the structure is sound it is cheap to add seasonal layers: a summer menu, a Christmas page, a winter break offer, a page for the boats in lay-up, a closed-for-holidays notice with the right dates. These are the pages that keep a coastal business visible in the months that matter, and they need no rebuild to appear or disappear.
Common questions
- Will my Google rankings drop during a redesign?
- Not if it is done properly, and it is the part we are most careful about. We keep the domain, keep URLs stable, redirect anything that moves, and leave your Google Business Profile untouched. In practice the local results carry straight across.
- Can I keep my existing pages and text?
- If they are working, yes. Plenty of sites have good copy attached to a tired design, and rewriting working text is a cost with no return. We will mark clearly what stays, what needs rewriting and what goes.
- Do I need new photographs?
- Almost certainly some. A redesign shows up old images more harshly than anything else, because everything around them gets sharper. We will tell you exactly which photographs are worth replacing and which are fine, and shoot them if you want us to.
- What does a redesign cost?
- Most sit in the same €600 to €2,500 range as a new small business site, occasionally less when the existing content, photographs and structure are sound. Online shops and multilingual rebuilds cost more. You get a fixed written figure after the free audit, not a discovery invoice.
- How long will the site be unavailable?
- For a small business site, effectively none. We build the new version alongside the old one and switch it over at a time that suits you — usually early in the week, outside service hours. If a full outage is unavoidable, you will know the date a fortnight in advance.
